day 5 and 6

Alergies!! Marshall has had red itchy eyes and has been sneezing Sense we got in to the Great valley. The pollen had never bothered him before.

We spent the day at Jon's house talking, playing Stratego and holding the puppy. Jon made an awesome lunch tender rib-eye steak, asparagus and salad. Around four we said our good-byes and headed back to 26 miles to Sacramento. Our sunburns slowly becoming bronzed skin.

The next morning Marie went to the dentist to have a check up. Everything went well. While she was at the dentist Marshall contacted Ed via, craigslist about a stove he was selling. He ended up advising us on a smaller stove that we could get at the local sports equipment store. We rode over and found the stove and a light weight pot. While we were checking things out we started talking to a Richard, a Psychology professor at the local University. He was getting ready for a journey in a VW Vanagon pop up from here to Illinois. We ended up talking for about an hour about everything from our plan in Detroit to transcending consciousness. He reminded us to use our critical thinking skills. He also donated 2 Camelback water bottles to our supplies so we wouldn't dehydrate.
Next we went to visit Justine, Marie's lifelong friend, to tell her about our trip and catch up with her. After that we rode to Styx's house, a friend from SF that had moved to Sacramento a few months back. On the way there we met Tim who found his calling in getting people out of their cars and on to bikes. He opened a bike shop, practical cycle, specializing in utilitarian bikes that could replace cars. We are going to head over today to check out his shop and get the whole story.
